Beignets Recipe


 Step 1: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine 360g of flour, 1/2 tablespoon of instant yeast, 40g of melted butter, 220ml of milk, 40g of sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of orange blossom water. Knead the mixture for 10 minutes until it forms a non-sticky dough ball.


Step 2: Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 1 hour.


Step 3: After the dough has risen, deflate it and roll it out to a thickness of about 2-3cm. Use a round cookie cutter to shape the beignets.


Step 4: Allow the shaped beignets to rest for another 1 hour to allow them to rise further.


Step 5: Heat frying oil in a deep pan. Fry the beignets for 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side until they turn golden brown.


Step 6: Place the fried beignets on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Then, generously coat them with powdered sugar.


Step 7: Fill the beignets with your choice of jam or spread before serving.
